It’s my distinct pleasure to tell you the story behind the design of three new products we are proudly introducing to the Kenyan market — the OnePlus 11 5G and the OnePlus Buds Pro I mentioned here, as well as the OnePlus Pad. This is also a testament to how the company aspires to create works of art.
Since its establishment as a brand, OnePlus has adopted an elegant and purposeful design. From the OnePlus One to the OnePlus 10T, each product shows the company’s unique taste in aesthetics, and its efforts in terms of ergonomics to provide a hand feel like no other.
The OnePlus 11 5G
The OnePlus 11 5G, launching in Kenya on February 7, demonstrates the continuity of the past mixed with evolution. It’s a device that showcases how luxury technology should be.
Design Concept
Our newest smartphone was designed specifically for those who are not afraid of standing out. In terms of design, the OnePlus 11 5G makes a bold, loud, confident, and shiny statement about modern elegance.
As many of you have already noticed, it’s an evolution of the OnePlus 10 Pro. Both devices share the same design style to deliver the simple, elegant, and purposeful design philosophy that, by now, is a OnePlus classic.
Design Highlights
The OnePlus 11 5G adopts a curvy one-piece unibody design. And one of the most eye-catching details of its design is the camera module. As you can see, there’s a K-Shape curve along the camera decor, which makes the module even more vivid with the flow of the light.
Our designers believe that the K-Shape curve can vitalize the design of the device, making it more vivid when compared to the design you can find on other smartphones.
This is a smartphone that also adopts a stainless-steel camera decor while mitigating the negative influence this special material can have on the antenna signal. Our designers, structural engineers, and antenna engineers took all their past experience to make this possible on the OnePlus 11 5G.
I mentioned the word luxury before, and that’s also the best word to use when talking about the camera glass of the device. The star roof that’s usually seen on luxury Swiss watches is also introduced on the OnePlus 11 5G. We are calling it the Starlight Dial Design.
Colorway stories
As you probably know by now, the OnePlus 11 5G will come in two different color options, namely, Titan Black and Eternal Green, which will both be available in the Kenyan market. Let’s talk about them.
First, Titan Black is the convergence of raw power and modern elegance. It’s a colorway inspired by a black hole, and it also represents the dreamlike calmness against the energy, the supersonic speed, and the extreme power of this phenomenon.
This option is also the perfect illustration of the term refined rawness – it puts the visuals of a rough, sanded rear, against the curvy, chromed-out stainless steel camera decor. It folds perfectly into the mid-frame of the OnePlus 11 5G, which allows for a calm and almost unobtrusive unibody design that facilitates the feel-in-hand and the reflections of the light.
Since the purposeful design is part of OnePlus’ DNA, the Titan Black utilizes Matte Frosted Glass to provide a smooth and soft, but sturdy, in-hand feel. Its micro-beads ensure high resistance to sweat and fingerprints.
We are also introducing Eternal Green, a force of nature inspired by the shades of the rainforest dusk. Wrapped around by a meticulously crafted exterior in all-chrome ‘n’ gloss, this colorway aims to bring novelty to the industry.
This is achieved thanks to the use of a multi-layering of glass (all of which is uniquely treated) to form the back of the device that creates a more refined light diffusion. If you look closely, you’ll see that there’s a flowy, mesmerizing game of light.
Ergonomics
We wanted to improve the hand-feel of the OnePlus 11 5G, so our engineers also paid attention to the curvature and the engineering of every piece on the exterior of the device.
This is to ensure that all surfaces are on a similar plane, something that allows for an unobtrusive, smooth transition as the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the display curves into the midframe, and from the midframe to the rear of the phone.
We cannot wait for you to hold it yourself, but we are confident this greatly improves the feel-in-hand by almost eliminating any obstructions between the parting lines on the device.
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2
Our newest earbuds are designed to impress aesthetically with maximum comfort in mind. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 has some futuristic elements imbued. For example, the design of the metal trim appears more structured when compared to its predecessors. We also used a state-of-the-art NCL laser coating process to achieve the tasteful look of the earbuds.
The Arbor Green of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is a great colorway to pair with the Eternal Green of the OnePlus 11 5G, catering to those who want to stand out from the crowd. This match was achieved after our designers explored more than fifty shades of green.
OnePlus Pad
Here it is, our first tablet. More details will be revealed during our Cloud 11 launch event on February 7, but I can say that it will adapt OnePlus’ iconic design philosophy that is present in other OnePlus products.
It will have our self-developed Star Orbit metal craft integrated with an aluminum alloy CNC. The camera is centered on the back of the device, something that frees users from any inconveniences when holding the tablet horizontally.
Another outstanding feature of the OnePlus Pad is the cambered frame. The arc is designed in line with ergonomics, something that allows users to hold the tablet comfortably for an extended period of time without fatigue.
Colorway story
You have read about the Eternal Green on the OnePlus 11 5G and the Arbor Green on the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and now it’s time to know our newest color, Halo Green.
We believe this color evokes life, and passion, while it’s a possibility to mirror the power of nature with rawness, strength, and vitality. Because this is an expansive and stunning color, Halo Green also blends the vibrancy of life with the vastness of Space.
OnePlus will continue to lead the trend in terms of smartphone and IoT product design, taking advantage of our accumulated experience from years of making products while looking into the future.
